The assistance which the Come Home Campaign offers you, includes:
- Help with efforts to find employment in South Africa;
- Advice about the South African registration of children born
abroad;
- Advice about obtaining immigration documentation for foreign
spouses joining South Africans here;
- Information about the determination of the validity of remigrants'
South African citizenship;
- Advice about the shipping of household goods;
- Advice about the importation of vehicles;
- Advice about the importation of pets;
- Help with getting a South African evaluation of qualifications
obtained abroad;
- Advice about the conversion of foreign driver's licences;
- Advice about foreign documents which might be required in South
Africa upon return;
- Contact with local estate agents;
- Contact with local financial advisors;
- General advice about schools, studies, medical specialists,
medical schemes, church denominations, sport clubs, labour legislation
and any other information which might be required.
The Come Home Campaign also distributes four free e-publications,
namely:
- Come Home Newsletter – A monthly
newsletter which is distributed in both Afrikaans and English.
It is targeted at people who are in the process of returning and
informs them about the latest issues concerning the return process,
as well as South Africa in general;
- Biltong Bulletin – Also a monthly
newsletter, published both in Afrikaans and English for South
Africans who are living abroad and would not necessarily like
to remigrate, but are still committed to South Africa and would
like to remain involved here;
- Biltong Bites – A daily newsletter
comprising the headlines of several local daily papers. Previous
numbers are not available;
- IMFO – A quarterly publication
with information for remigrants and immigrants regarding life
in South Africa and the local cost of living. The latest issue
can be downloaded from our "Immigration" web page.
